  1. it is safe to say that, while it may contain the majority of the same information, the most recent edition of a physics book will not be a combination of the first two books. As a rule, when a new edition is put out, it is done so because they have either corrected errors, changed facts, modified or added pictures, etc. Especially since it is a physics book and we, as students in the scientific community, are witnessing such extraordinary changes in the world around us, I would recommend buying the new book. A Professor once told me it is always best to have the most recent edition of science books. Although, if you have one of the others, it might not hurt to email and ask. Hope this helps
