If the amplitude in a sound wave is doubled, by what factor does the intensity of the wave increase? b) By what factor must the amplitude of a soundwave be increased in order to increase the intensity by a factor of 9?

  1. this is a square law. if you double the amplitude, the intensity increases by 4.

    and to get an increase of 9, the amplitude has to triple
