  1. Use white paper without any lines on it.

  2. Discuss the purpose of the experiment.  Why did you do it (other than you HAD to?

A diagram along with a brief description of the procedure is next.

Tabulate data were possible and use graphs.  That is a "nice" way to organize the data.  What equations are you checking or "proving"?

Discuss what, if anything, went wrong.  Possible sources or error and methods to improve the experiment.

What do you conclude?  What did you learn.

That is, no doubt, what your instructor would like to see.

  3. Different teachers look for different things, but in general:

Introduction: A paragraph or two describing what you did and how you did it.

Methods and Materials: More detail about how you did your experiment, step-by-step, and what you used (rulers, computers, certain apparatus)

Results, conclusion and analysis: State results you obtained in the lab - numbers you recorded after taking measurements. Then analyze the data, or perform calculations with your numbers and present them in a meaningful way. For example, if you measured distance and time, you could calculate quantities like velocity and acceleration, from which you could more easily notice trends or draw conclusions. It's also a good idea to draw graphs and stuff if you can. For your conclusion, state whether the experiment was successful (do your results agree with what theories and equations would predict?). State possible sources of experimental error, and comment on how reliable your results are.

References: If you referred to anything, such as books, for equations or literature results, cite them here.
