In a uniform electric field of 5 N/C in the y-direction, an electron is given an initial kinetic energy of 12eV in the x-direction.

Later the electron passes a point where the value of y has changed from 5cm from where it had started.

*What is the potential at that point?

*What is the electrons kinetic energy there?

**[Take the potential to be zero at the electron's intial positions]

  1. E = 5 N/C = 5 V/m

    ΔV = Ed = 5*0.05 = 0.25 V

    KE = Ei + ΔE = 12.25 eV
