Question:

Physics and Conductors ?

Need help for my big test Friday and I need help with these study questions.

The electric field inside the conducting material is always zero.

-TRUE.

All points of a conductor are at the same potential.

-I think false because you can have different PE with different charges

Just outside the surface of a conductor, the electric field is always zero.

-I think false because charges would be attracted do to inside hollow charges

Charges prefer to be uniformly distributed throughout the volume of a conductor.

-TRUE, charges will repel away from each other at a particular distance so every charge is same distance away from each other.

TRUE/ FALSE

I guarantee 10 points, any help would be greatly appreciated. THANK YOU!!!

  1. 1) Only one the conductor is at equilibrium.

    2) Yeah, you will get voltage/pd drop across any resistance at all.

    3) False, things like relays and inductors - radio - all rely on it being non-zero.

    4) False, "skin effect" - look it up.
