An air-track glider attached to a spring oscillates between the 11.0 cm mark and the 57.0 cm mark on the track. The glider completes 12.0 oscillations in 32.0 s.

What is the maximum speed of the glider?

  1. Find distance traveled down the x-axis:

    ∆x = x(f) - x(i) = 0.57m - 0.11m = ...

    Twice this value will be for one oscillation (down and back).

    Find time for 1 oscillation:

    32 s / 12 osc. = 2.666 s/osc.  [1osc. in 2.666s]

    Find speed as usual:

    v = d / t = 0.92m / 2.666s = ...
