The radius of earth is 6.40 x 10^3 km. The moon is about 3.84 x 10^5 km away from the earth and has a diameter of about 3475 km. The Pacific Ocean surface, which can be considered a convex mirror, forms a virtual image of the moon. What is the diameter of that image???

  1. The link has the equation you need.

The problem tells you Ho, Do, and you can figure the focal length of the Pacific from the radius of the earth.  Plug the numbers in just like in the example at the link, and you are all set.

  2. That would depend on what depth you are below it's surface.
