  1. A loud speaker works with the help of electromagnetic induction in a loud speaker electrical energy gets converted to mechanical energy which tends it to produce magnetic waves which furthur make the formation of sound

  2. by moving a current next to a magnet, you can create a force or repulsion between the two, so if the magnet is free to move, in and out a small way, it can then vibrate the air to create sound waves. To increase the effect, you attach it to a cone shape of say cardboard, with the magnet in the middle, and the cone restrained. that is why if you  turn some cheaper speakers up too much, you can cause the cones to mechanically break away in places.
