Physics theorys that have been disproven?

I need to write a paper on science concept. I need to explain the previous erroneous concept and the new concept, I'm not asking for help with writing it. I need help thinking of something to write about to being with!

Go right back to the basics, especially for your start. Some theories spring to mind:

1 The earth is the centre of the universe

2. Heavy objects fall to the ground faster than lighter objects.

3. As you go higher you get closer to the sun and the atmosphere gets hotter

4. The earth is flat.

The concept that electrons are particles was disproven by the two slit experiment elecrons are now considered as both waves and particles.

The ether and how the michalson-morley experiment showed a null effect and then how einstein theoretically blew it out of the water.  You can also consider how now people think there is a higgs field which is almost like going back to the ether idea.

1. Write about how people once thought that the Earth was the center of the universe, then about how people started believing it wasn't, then about how they discovered it actually is! (It all has to do with the expansion of the universe, relativity, and frame of reference)
