  1. i took english for a level and i liked it

its different in every school you study different books

if you liked it at gcse you should like it at a level it is harder but if you enjoy interpretating texts then go for it

i hated poetry when i started at a/s by the time i finshed i started to like it:)

  2. what type of english?? I take both literature and english language.... english language is a complete waste of time and i think my 12 year old sister could pass that exam, incidentally we do have frightfully bad english language teachers....Literature is slightly better and more for a creative mind.... I have a big Literature class whereas i have a very small Language class ( 5 people!) Sociology i've been told is quite easy going with a video conference every 1 week or something and idk what Physiology is....

  3. Sociology is very interesting - you'll find yourself becoming much more interested in society and politics. You'll have some fun debates too!

English language, literature or combined? I took English literature and I really liked it but it's impossible for me to say whether it would be for you - different schools use different exam boards and even within the same exam board there are several different texts that you might study.

My school uses AQA which involves a piece of coursework on one of Shakespeare's plays (We did Othello), an exam on a modern(ish) novel (we did The Color Purple) and an exam that's half poetry (we did Blake) and half drama (we did Death of a Saleman and the other class did Cat on a Hot Tin Roof) at AS level.

At A2 we did a piece of coursework on any two pieces of text of our choice (I really liked it because you can choose two books you really like and it's interesting to analyse them), another exam that was half poetry (Tennyson this time and I think the other class did Samuel Taylor Coleridge's Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner) and drama (Shakespeare this time, The Winter's Tale for us and Measure for Measure for the other class) and finally a synoptic exam (3 hours long!) where you're given some texts to analyse before the exam and then an unseen text in the exam to answer two questions on (this encorporates everything you've learnt about analysing texts).

I hope that helped and didn't scare you out of it!

  4. Sociology and english are both very intresting subjects. Socilogy was intresting becasue when you do diffrent types of relationships it fun because you can compare them with relationships you have ith people. English is really easy to to be honest but at the same time chalenging enough to keep you entertained. I dropped out of physiology and did psycology instead.
