Pia Zebadiah, Rizki Amelia gain access to Women’s Doubles quarter-finals – Vietnam Open Update

Indonesia’s Pia Zebadiah Bernadeth-Rizki Amelia Pradipta escorted their country to the quarter-finals of Yonex Sunrise Vietnam Open GP after stamping Pacharakamol Arkornsakul-Jongkonphan Kittiharakul on August 23, 2012.
This Women’s Doubles showdown was staged at Ho Chih Minh in Vietnam and it remained in full swing for 40 minutes before ending with final result of 19-21, 21-7 and 21-10.
There was lot of drama in this pre quarter-final match as at one stage the lower ranked Thai pair established their grip but then the Indonesian shuttlers showed some elevated craft and tipped the scale in their favour.
However, real challenge awaits Pia Zebadiah-Rizki Amelia as they will be facing higher ranked Malaysian team Vivian Kah Mun Hoo-Khe Wei Woon in the round of eight.
The sixth seeded duo had a sluggish start in the pre quarter-final match which resulted in their failure in the opening game.
They could not read their rivals strategy and kept trailing behind throughout the first set. They strived hard to pocket this vital match point but could not hit the mark.
Meanwhile, Pacharakamol and Jongkonphan made best out of this opportunity and managed to register an overwhelming figure of 21-19.
Conversely, they proved sitting ducks in the very next game as their challengers hunted them down with ease.
The twosome of Pia Zebadiah and Rizki Amelia made amends by claiming second set with an indomitable lead of 14 points.
They laid the foundation of their supremacy by clinching a few successive points and then strengthened their grip by reaching at respectable score position of 11 before the interval.
Later part of the game saw them playing impeccable badminton as they did not give their opponents even a single chance to bounce back and swept the table with a staggering knock of 21-7.
This splendid win also helped them in the decider as the Indonesian shuttlers relished this psychological edge and outclassed their competitors in all areas of the game.
They started the beating from the very first stroke and maintained the upper hand until the last shot was played.
The first half of the set finished with Pia Zebadiah and Rizki Amelia leading with a decent total of 11 and then the second half was concluded with both female shuttlers putting a decisive margin of 21-10.
