Pia Zebadiah Bernadeth, Rizki Amelia Pradipta make way into semi-finals - Macau Open Update
Women’s Doubles partners Pia Zebadiah Bernadeth and Rizki Amelia Pradipta forged fruitful chemistry in the quarter-finals of Kumpoo Macau Open Badminton Grand Prix Gold and thrashed Emelie Lennartsson-Emma Wengberg on November 30, 2012.
This encounter took place in the local badminton arena of Macau and it kept both teams busy on court for 34 minutes.
The fourth seeded Indonesian duo displayed superior skills and wrapped this showdown in just two games.
Pia Zebadiah and Rizki Amelia showed superb coordination and finished this crucial tussle with an impressive result of 21-17 and 21-12.
They established a strong grip over the game immediately in the beginning of first set and enjoyed the upper hand until the final moments.
In the opening game, they prevailed in the establishing rallies and gained a decent advantage with 6-3 total.
The next couple of rallies saw them making a few fatal mistakes which ultimately weakened their grip.
Meanwhile, Swedish shuttlers made a swift progress and caught their challengers way before half time. Emelie and Emma made best out of this flow and placed a respectable total of 11.
However, things were not that easy for them after the mid-game break as the opposing shuttlers reinstated their supremacy with a gutsy knock.
At first, Pia Zebadiah and Rizki Amelia levelled the score at 14-14 and then left their competitors far behind with a winning margin of 21-17.
The Indonesian campaigners did not lose this rhythm and played with similar conviction in the very next game.
They employed interesting tactics in the beginning of second set and pushed the twosome of Emelie-Emma in all areas of the court.
Though, a sluggish start kept them at the lower end until 5-7 but then few back-to-back productive rallies provided them the required momentum.
Pia Zebadiah and Rizki Amelia never looked back after getting on the right track and finished first half of the set with an indomitable figure of 11.
Later part of the game did not bring much for the Swedish campaigners as they kept trailing behind until last shot was played.
The Indonesian shuttlers stole the limelight with a lustrous performance of 21-12 and marched into the semi-final round.
