Okay i'm 15 years old i've been playing piano since i was 4. I am modest, but i will say i'm good. I played fur elise at 10, i'm playing some burgmuller now and trying out some bach. I'm more of a burgmuller type of guy though. If you met me at my school i guess you wouldn't expect i play piano. I play football basketball and lacrosse. I really want to make a transition from a classical pianist to a keyboardist. As a classical pianist, i look at what the best keyboardists in bands play and it's laughable. I just think i could be a good keyboardist, i can sight read almost anything that's like a modern popular song, unless it has a key signature of more than 4 notes, and it takes some getting used to but i can play it. I just want to know how to go about becoming a keyboardist instead of a pianist. I have a steinway grand piano but i also have a nice keyboard. I don't really understand, are their any like technique differences, is it a hard transition to make?

  1. hmm..if ur good as u say u are, u'll be able to play well on the keyboard/synth-the piano is a keyboard too..

btw, ur not an advance pianist..fur elise is an easy piece

  2. some jazz chord studies would help alot! try "PATTERNS FOR JAZZ" by jerry coker. it will help you develop chord/arpeggio skills and improvisation too!

learn all the different bells, whistles, buzzers, and lights on your keyboard so you know how to use them!

    technique is pretty much similar,...
