Picking a technological major - help!?

Question

I am attempting to pick a major for a univ, but i am unsure of what something i like would be called -

i'd like to major in progarming part of computers, like the actual parts, and maybe creating new hardware as a result

Computer science or computer engineering (sometimes is a concentration within electrical engineering).  

Computer science tends to take a more software approach but students can emphasize in hardware systems too.  However, if you actually want to be designing the hardware then engineering is something you should look into.
