Picking up eight wickets in the Antigua Test was a great achievement, thinks http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sunil-Philip-Narine-c91869 – Cricket News Update
After coming up with a match-winning performance in only the second Test of his career against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754, Sunil Narine, the young West Indian off-spinner, has expressed that the whole team contributed in the success.
The 24-year-old cricketer made his Test debut earlier this year during the tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 but remained wicket-less.
However, the mystery spinner from Trinidad & Tobago rose to the occasion in the recently concluded first of the two-match series at Antigua, picking up eight crucial scalps, helping his team take a 1-0 lead in the series. As a result,
the budding youngster was named as the Player of the Match.
He credited the whole team for an emphatic nine wicket victory and said that the senior players helped him throughout the five days.
"It was a total team effort in Antigua. I didn't just go out there and pick up those eight wickets on my own," Narine expressed. "I got a lot of help from the others in the team, a lot of support from everyone on and off the field.
The guys rallied around me and everyone urged me on."
Narine added that the Antigua pitch was heavily in favour of the batsmen, not offering much assistance to the bowlers. On such a track, the wily spinner believes, it was a great accomplishment to pick up eight wickets in the match,
since he had to toil hard for 85 overs for those scalps.
"Getting eight wickets on that pitch, I believe, it was a big achievement for me. It was not easy to get wickets. Once the batsmen decided to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Adrian-Roger-Kirshaw-Pierson-c42135 it out it became very hard to bowl to them," the mystery spinner added.
Narine, who made his way to international cricket last year, played a massive role in Kolkata Knight Riders’ success in the fifth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and remained one of the leading wicket-takers of the tournament.
The young spinner was also named as the Player of the Series in the five-match One Day International series against New Zealand last month, picking up 13 victims to dismantle the Kiwis.
