My daughter is almost 14 months old, and for over a month now she became picky eater. When she was baby she used to eat everything. WHAT HAPPEN. I run out of idea's to make her, she hate veggies but like fruits. SHe only eats certain food and when i put foods. When I put food in front of her she throws food away. She only drink 2-3 of bottles a day (mostly 2). Should i worry, i took to the doctor and she said cut her bottle, well i didn't and it didn't work. Should i give her multivitamin, if so which kind.

What should i do, what did you do for your child? What did you feed them? I am so frusted. I dont know what to make her any more. thank you

  1. My 2 1/2 year old is a picky eater too.  When he was younger, like your daughter, I would offer him whatever we were eating, and if he refused it, I would give him something that he liked.  Now that he is old enough to understand, I give him what we are eating, and explain that if he chooses not to eat it, he cannot have any snacks.  Usually he goes to bed having eaten only a few bites of dinner.  I take this to mean that he is not hungry in the evening and I don't worry about it.  He is a perfectly normal size and weight.

  2. talk  to  here

  3. i agree with the others that mixing together foods may help your daughter to eat more balanced meals. my daughter is like this as well, and i always fix her a nutritious meal for dinner (she has breakfast and lunch at day care). sometimes she eats her food, and sometimes she doesn't. we have learned to leave her food on the table for about an hour because it never fails that she's hungry after we finish eating. we're also sure not to give her any snacks while we're getting her meal ready - that way, she will still be hungry when it's time to eat.

i have noticed that she may go a couple of meals without eating much, then she'll eat okay for a couple. she does drink plenty of milk, so i know she's getting some nutrition. the pediatrician and other parenting books have said that it's fine if they don't eat every meal because they'll make up for it later.

also, we don't like to punish our daughter by making her eat all of her food, nor do we like to push her to eat everything on her plate - it's better to let her decide when she's full or not hungry so she'll have better control over her diet when she's grown and so she won't attach emotions to eating!

  4. Hi, I have three daughters and they all have gone through picky stages - wait, my youngest is 12 months old and she isn't too picky yet which I'm really greatful for.  There are times when it seems like they eat like birds and other times when it seems like they can't stop eating!  From what I've been told by their doctor is not to worry, they go through these stages.  When they get ready to grow again they will prepare ahead of time by eating a bunch and sleeping more.  Remember that our babies grow the most in their first year, they slow down their growth a lot after their first birthday and therefore do not need to eat as much as we think they do.

  5. my son was like that a month ago now he will eat everything i think kids just do that

  6. my son is 1 and 3 months and has started the same thing, he always ate everything i gave him, i am putting it down to teething, do you let her try to feed herself i have found it to be great letin him mess with his food and try new things, but most of the time it will go all over him and the high chair but this way he sees food as some thing that fills his belly and has a little play time too. he drinks 2 to 3 bottles a day, he loves fresh orange juice and apples, on a bad day i give him cream rice or pasta shapes with some taste on it and he will feed him self, good look i know the feeling when you put your baby to bed and think my poor baby has not eaten a thing all day, it  makes you feel so guilty, best of luck with your little princess

  7. Well, I babysit my 14 month old cousin all the time, especially during the summer, and I always have to feed him. He won't eat some vegetables when I try to get him to, but sometimes he does. His mom buys him these little mini tv dinners...I forgot what they're called, but they have like a main thing like mac and cheese and some vegetables. What I do when he won't eat the veggies is I dip the spoon in the main thing (mac and cheese most of the time) and then in the veggies and he eats it.

  8. I would try again to stop using a bottle so much. Try putting it in a sippy cup with his or her favorite characters. Children will usually eat when they are hungry, they will not starve themselves.

  9. My daughter is 2 and just as bad. When you come up with an answer let me know.

  10. i used to make a ton of different foods just to get something in my daughter so that she would stay healthy.  However, it became too much and I ended up frustrated and throwing out more good food than not. I started putting my toddler on a set eating schedule versus feeding them as I did when they were younger. It helped and now my kid eats fully at every meal.

Also, don't give in to them and let them be picky eaters. instead get creative and mix veggies into her food so that she has no choice but to eat them. Also, toddlers are really into playing versus eating so it can take up to an hour to feed them because they are so distracted but be willing to sit there with them as they are hungry. Toddlers will teach you patience during this phase otherwise you will go nuts.

  11. you need to discipline her, if she doesn't eat all her food, she shouldn't get to eat dessert. If she isn't done cleaning her plate, she shouldn't be able to leave the table until she does. If she isn't old enough to understand, then just be patient, but don't give in to her. Make sure that she gets a healthy balance of fruits and veggies. That is the way my parents taught me and it worked. Even if it does sound harsh, it really isn't, teach her young and she will learn fast. Good luck!
