Picture Fades to Black

Question

We have been encountering a problem with our Sony KV30HS420 TV recently. Everything will be working fine and all of a sudden the screen will fade out to black. The little red light on the front of the tv at the power switch will start blinking. All we have to do is hit the power button on the remote and it will fire back up and everything will be fine again. The problem is intermittant and it can be anywhere from five minutes to umpteen hours before the problem recurs. I cannot speak for the sound since it comes through the seperate sound system. This seems to be more frequent when the set is first turned on and has been sitting off for a long time. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. We have had this set for about two years and need to decide whether it is worth fixing, or replacing.
