  1. You need to use a program to resize your photos.  A typical size photo that you take with your digital camera may be like 24 inches by 48 inches at 72 dpi.  That is fine for VIEWING on your screen.  NOT for emailing, OR printing.

You would want to resize maybe like 4 inches x 6 inches and keep the 72 dpi.

To PRINT - try 8 inches x 10 inches, BUT CHANGE the dpi to 300 dpi - this will make them NOT FUZZY & Very CLEAR!

  2. email pictures are going to be less clear than ones you take from your camera. The best way would be to download them to your desktop and make them slightly smaller in size when you print them. You can tell your MIL that when she sends them from iPhoto to send at least medium sized in the options. If they are still fuzzy she could send large files. They would take longer to download. Tell her to be sure it shows Windows-friendly attachments, too.

Also, she may have fewer megapixels making the pictures less clear.

Having a Mac should not make any difference in the emailed photos. I do it all the time to my PC using daughter and she sends some to me with no problem.

  3. Ask your mother-in-law to send you pictures at a higer resolutions, which equates to higher file size.
