My TV doesn't fit the screen. It cuts off 2-3 inches off each side.

How do I get it to fit within the screen.

It's only about 6 months old.

  1.   Travis W is right. But, I also discovered that some broadcasts are not being delivered in widescreen. As a result of this, you get the "black bars" on the sides. In other words, your receiving a 4:3 image on your 16:9 widescreen TV.

  2. your remote should have a setting on it somewhere that says "zoom mode" or "wide mode"  hitting this button will adjust the way the picture fits into your hdtv

If its a problem from a satelite or cable receiver, they also have hdtv settings for wide/zoom

If your tv is not widescreen and you're getting these lines then I'm not really sure...

  3. below answers are correct, but I'll ask if you understand the formats that the tv and tv broadcasts use, Widescreen is the new standard, old tvs were "square" and now tvs are "rectangular".

You are seeing a "square" picture on your "rectangle" tv set.

If you tell it to "zoom" etc, its basically stretching the square into a rectangle.  It DOES distort the picture.  Im about to buy and HDTV myself, so Ill have to deal with this soon myself.  Purists would say to leave it like that, with the black bars, but normal people seem to get annoyed when the tv doesnt "use up all the space".  Things like peoples faces will be stretched out of proportion, people will look fatter etc if you tell it to "zoom".

Hope this helped a little :)

  4. Is there a "zoom" option on the TV or remote?  I would check the manual first and then contact Panasonic.  This happened to me with my digital TV and I found options for widescreen- zoom etc.
