Picture editing problem?

Question

I've been looking at site model images recently. I've noticed that most of their images are edited quite beautifully. I would really like to know how to edit a picture like these two,

with programs like photoshop, and tutorials online for airbrushing and blemish retouching, as well with basic makeup  using concealer and foundation, and a photo with good lighting, you could very easily achieve similar effects,

with gimp you can use clone and heal stamps, airbrushing and use layers with blur and other adjustments,
