Picture is too big for the screen

The picture is too big for the screen. People's headsare cut off at the top. For the news, we see torsos talking to one another.Subtitles can't be seen at the bottom. How can we adjust this: There is no option on the menuthat I can find that offers a different configuration like"stretched." or anything. There are no controls on the machineexcept for channel and volume.
