Picture keeps going off anf on, but still have...

Question

The model number I have on the back of the TV is sony KV-32TW77. It is an1994 TV in a wooden enclosed cabinet with a glass door below for the DVD and VCR. The picture keeps going black, I still have sound and if I watch a DVD the picture stays fine? I was told the receiver was going bad is it an easy fix for the average homeowner?
