When I upload pictures from my camera to my computer, the pictures are 3264x2448. Is there a way to change the settings to make it smaller?.. Like, 600x449. I'm tired of having to go one by one changing it.. Any help?

Thanks.

  1. Why do you want to change the image size of the saved file? The photo viewer should allow you to reduce the size when viewing without having to mess with the original file.

If you really want to compress the files in a batch mode, utilities like UFRAW is supposed to enable you to do this by reducing the quality of output JPG. But I have not used it myself.

  2. You can change the resolution in your camera's menu.  But why would you want to do that?  If you want to print one, you will need the higher resolution.  I hope you're downsizing copies and keeping the originals.  You can downsize, but you can't upsize.

  3. There really is no reason to change all of them to 600x400 @ 72 DPI unless you are planing on sending them all via email to your friends.

    Here is the deal.

Any image files you want to print, needs to be captured at the highest resolution your camera is now set.

While you can reduce the resolution of your camera to something like 600 x 400, you will have negated the whole purpose of buying a high resolution camera with a sensor pixel count of 7MP +.

For under $90, you can buy cameras that produce images at those lower resolutions and not have to deal with all those high resolution image files.

All that said, you should have a photo program that came with your camera and that will allow you to resize your images in batches ... and save them as different file names so you do not overwrite your high quality originals.

  4. Press '' PLAY '' to view images then press '' menu '' selecte on '' resize images ''.
