Pictus catfish help?

ok i had a pictus catfish in a 10gal it was very active and it ate a lot.

today i put him in a big *** tank he was active for a while now hes hinding in a cave and didnt eat

wats wrong with him?

should i wait one day if he does not eat or swimm alot at night should i put him back in the 10gal

  1. Fish sometimes have a bit of shock when moving into a larger tank. Give him a while to warm up to it.

    If he doesn't improve, check your temperature and PH level and so forth. And if it's still bad even with all your parameters in check, then move him back and try again another day.


  2. it's stressful for fish to move into a new environment, so hiding is normal. A bigger tank is always better, so no I wouldn't suggest putting him back. That would only be more stressful for him. I only hope that the water in your larger tank is cycled.

    I also suggest that when moving fish only use a net to maneuver them into a container filled with water to minimize stress. Adding some Stress Coat to the water will help with his adjustment as well.

  3. I'll bet the big*** tank isn't cycled and your fish is feeling the effect of ammonia poisoning.
