I am starting to show saddleseat. I am looking for a suit to show in for 4-H and High School Equestrian team Shows. I found a suit that i liked. It was made by Reed Hill. Only exception: it's 700 dollars. I show B circuit with my arab and i do mostly dressage and in-hand classes. I only need the suit for 4-H and equestrian team. I was not looking to spend that much. i have tried ebay and craigs list, but i cant find anything that i like...i would rather piece together a suit to look like the reed hill suit, but im having a hard time...any help??

this is the link to the suit i like:

  1. Maybe try buying a regular suit that looks similar and have it tailored to look like that one.....I dunno... or maybe try finding a used one off of someone else from your equestrian team.

    Good Luck!

  2. National Bridle , they have full peice suits that are less than  $400 and the shipping is great!

  3. Reed Hill suits are not shaped very nicely.  They have no shape in the leg and the seaming is just not attractive.  Your best beat would be to call around to saddle seat barns and see if they have any old suits for sale that are under $400.  I know that sitting at my old barn's closet theres at least 1 suit for sale for under $400 and it will be much nicely then anything you could buy off rack.  If that doesn't work I would call saddle seat consignment shops and just ask what they have in eq suits in your measurements.  If you must buy off rack then probably your best bet there would be P&S's suits or World Champion's suits.  From what I have seen from them they look much better than Reed Hill's.  If you show in an saddle seat equitation class your coat and pants must be the same color and fabric (not sure about vest for 4-h if it has to match).  For the correct fitting and hints and tips on looking your best check out the saddle seat equitation website for correct fitting and consignment shop contact information.  Do you have to wear a helmet or disipline correct head wear?  If you get to wear a derby make sure its not too big for your head and make sure the brim is rolled tightly for a neater more put together look.

  4. There is a local tack shop by me that sells used suits in the spring. Check at your local tack shops to see if they have any used clothing.
