Everton midfielder Steven Pienaar enjoyed scoring the ‘special’ goal against former club Tottenham Hotspur in the 2-1 victory at Goodison Park on Sunday.
The former Spurs player scored a stoppage time goal which ultimately helped Everton steal the win right under Tottenham’s noses.
The player grabbed his goal through a rare diving header in the dying minutes of the game and was delighted as Everton moved up to 4th spot.
Everton hosted Tottenham, trailing them by 3 points going into the game. Andre Villas-Boas’ men were on a winning run of 3 games, while http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-c10409 Moyes’ men were 4 games without a win.
Tottenham took the lead through a Clint Dempsey looped effort, and looked set to secure their 4th successive league win. Everton had played good attacking football, but Tottenham kept them at bay and defended well.
However, it all changed when http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Steven-Pienaar-c34208 made amends for his otherwise less than impressive performance by diving to head the ball into the net in the dying minutes of the game.

The win takes Everton ahead of Tottenham on goal difference and puts them at 4th spot, 3 points behind http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 who are at 3rd.
Pienaar scored only his second headed career goal in Sunday night’s match, and was delighted when his side took all three points. The South African felt it was a personal victory to get a win over Tottenham, the club he left in the summer.
Speaking to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c13019’s official website, he said:
“What can I say, the past is the past. Now I’m back at Everton and you give everything for the club you play for. That’s what I do and I was just lucky to get a goal.”
“To score against your former club, it meant a lot to me and to the supporters. The timing was perfect. To score in the last minute, it was a special goal. The last header I scored was for Ajax in 2001 – my first goal in Europe. Today was only my second
one so I’m quite pleased with it.”
