Pienaar will be training with Everton: David Moyes
It has been reported that David Moyes expects his want-away midfielder, Steven Pienaar, to be present at Everton’s training ground, even though David Moyes himself confirmed that Pienaar could join Chelsea in the next few days.
It was earlier confirmed by the Toffees' boss that Everton have accepted Chelsea’s £3million for Steven Pienaar, whose contract with the Toffees will expire in the summer.
Moreover, Tottenham Hotspur were also believed to be in contention to sign Steven Pienaar but the Spurs were not allowed to have talks with Pienaar’s agent as they failed to meet Everton’s valuation.
David Moyes confirmed "He will be in training because at the moment we don't have a deal.”
The Toffees boss added, “If Tottenham offer the same money that may change or maybe he will agree terms with Chelsea. We've given his representatives a chance to talk to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 but they've not got permission to talk to Tottenham because they've not offered
the same money."
However, Harry Redknapp has also confirmed that Tottenham Hotspur has backed down from signing Pienaar as they cannot afford to pay huge wages to the South African.
Moreover, Steven Pienaar did not feature in Everton’s latest two-two draw to their city rivals http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 after telling his manager he did not want to play.
David Moyes said, "Steven came to see me on Saturday and said he didn't feel he was in the right place to play. I had a decision to make and I felt it would be better not to use him if that was the case."
Steven Pienaar was Everton’s Player of the Season last year but the Toffees failed to tie their talismanic midfielder to a new contract. David Moyes also confirmed that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Steven-Pienaar-c34208 was offered a new contract seven months ago but the former Ajax player
rejected it.
The likely departure of the last season’s best player is definitely a blow to the Toffees, but with Steven Pienaar out of contract at the end of the season, Everton are left with no choice but to cash in during the winter transfer window.
