  1. Barbells definitely. Surface piercings are known to grow out pretty easily, no matter where they are (eyebrow, nape, hip etc)

If you're 110% that you are going to like this piercing, go for the dermal anchor. Make sure you go to a qualified piercer, or if you don't think you could handle the process of removing a dermal anchor (having it cut out) then I suggest the surface barbell (like a staple-shape). Straight barbells are not reccomended.

    :)

  2. Dermal anchors have a lower rejection rate on average than surface piercings.

Anchors are much harder to remove. They must be cut out.

Surface piercings have about a 50% rejection rate. You can be a part of the lucky 50% if your piercer uses a proper surface barbel with 90 degree bends and flat disks for healing. There aren't any guarantees though, even if everything is done right it can still reject.

Impact will help either method reject. If you play contact sports surface piercing and dermal anchors are not for you.

You need to be meticulous with after care. You need to keep your hair away from the piercing (if you have long hair, keep it tied up for the healing period and be careful when brushing your hair).

If it were me, I would go with the anchors, because they have a lower rejection rate. Keep in mind though they are much more difficult to remove
