Piercings and Airports?

Question

I have my lip pierced, my tonuge and both ears. My parents told me that when I go on my flight to Paris that they would probably make me take atleast my tongue and lip. Is that true? Like what am I going to do take my tonuge barbell out and stab someone? No, thats just dumb.

I work for TSA and I can  tell that the piercings that you have are not an issue AT ALL.

They wont care about any of your piercings.  This is one instance where your parents are wrong! :)

Just inform the TSA agent that you have them.  They may "wand" you after you go through the arch.

not necessarily... they sometimes go off, others dont. i know that some like belly button rings go off and others dont..my friends nipple ring didnt last time we went to cuba.

the reason they make you take it out is to be sure that is whats going off... you can put it back in as soon as they realize what iit is

TSA only states that some screening - piercings may set them off

but there is no restrictions on getting on board with them
