Pierpaolo Bisoli sacked by Cagliari
Following their 1-0 defeat at the hands of mid-table Genoa on Sunday 14 November, Cagliari have decided to fire their head coach Pierpaolo Bisoli just five days before his 44th birthday.
A statement on the club's official website read, "Cagliari Calcio has reached an agreement this evening with coach Pierpaolo Bisoli to end his work in Sardinia."
Cagliari followed up quickly by announcing the hiring of Roberto Donadoni, who will take over Bisoli as the man in charge.
Despite the sacking, Cagliari did not diminish Bisoli's accomplishments in leading the club.
"Unfortunately, in football you depend on results and many times you are forced to take decisions that contrast with human feelings," the statement continued. "Bisoli is and will always be a great coach.
From this adventure he can leave with his head held high because of the technical and human characteristics that he has.''
Bisoli, who only signed with Cagliari at the start of the season after helping Cesena earn promotion to Serie A, didn't see his coaching tenure last nearly as long his playing career with the club. Bisoli
was a member of Cagliari between 1991 and 1997 where he made 167 appearances and scored five goals.
Bisoli had only good things to say about his tenure at the helm.

"Training Cagliari was an honour and a great professional satisfaction," he said in a press release on Tuesday. "In the few months I spent there I grew as a man and as a coach. During the season I invested
my energy to deal with the psychological and physical aspects, but also the welfare of the tactical team in general. This club allowed me to start my career as a Serie A coach."
Donadoni, the man who will be stepping in, does not share the same kind of history with the club as Bisoli did. Donadoni, who played most of his career with AC Milan, was most recently the manager at Napoli
in a spell that did not last long before he was replaced by Walter Mazzarri. Donadoni was also the man in charge of Italy's quarter-final exit from the Euro 2008 tournament.
Donadoni takes over a side currently sitting in the relegation zone tied with Brescia and Cesena on 11 points, just two points off the bottom. He will get his first test in charge against relegation rivals
Brescia on Sunday 21 November.
