Pierre-Antoine Morvan and Phil Robertson strong in 2012 WMRT Match Race Germany
After putting up an excellent sailing show in the First Qualifying Session of the 2012 WMRT Match Race Germany, France’s Pierre-Antoine Morvan Vannes Agglo Sailing Team and New Zealand’s Phil Robertson of Waka Racing successfully grabbed a strong position
in the fleet standings.
Both teams had a tremendous day at the Langenargen in Germany under some strong wind conditions but they managed to make full use of it and top the overall standings. The teams sailed in three races on the opening day and clinched all three of them to get
a strong grip on the fleet.
Morvan is a new Tour Card Holder and is showing great determination so far. He will definitely succeed should he continue his performance until the finish of the qualifying session.
His coach, Bertrand Pacé, is with him to guide him throughout the regatta qualifying session. He believes Morvan can successfully make his place in the regatta.
Speaking to the local media, Pacé commented that they have just started working together so they are still settling into this relationship. They will judge how well it is working after the first couple of events and decide whether it’s something they want
to pursue for the full season.
Talking about Morvan, he added that Pierre is a great skipper and definitely a tremendous match racer. However, experience is very important as is confidence which is what they are focusing on most.
Meanwhile, an experienced sailor, Phil Robertson is also going quite strong at the moment and it seems he will make a good result at the end of the qualifying session.
