The Rennes sporting director has rubbished reports claiming that Les Rouges et Noirs coach might be sacked following the club’s poor start to the season
Rennes are off to a worst possible start in the Ligue 1 this season collecting only a single win after five games.
Frederic Antonetti’s side are in the relegation zone and things aren’t looking good for them at the moment. Their poor start led to speculation that the French club is considering sacking coach, Frederic Antonetti.
However, Stade Rennais’ sporting director has dismissed such reports and has assured club’s supporters that the coach will stay despite team’s poor form.
While talking to reporters, the sporting director of the club stated that ups and downs are a part of this game and there is no need to panic. The 52-year-old said that the season has just begun and it’s immature to criticise the coach like that.
"There will be many wins and a time when we return to a level which is more in line with our goals", the sporting director told reporters.

There were several issues which needed attention and sporting director has talked about everything with the coach and has assured of much improved showing form Rennes
in the coming matches.
"Have I spoken to Antonetti? Yes. We discussed the game. Is he under threat? No,” he added.
The former LOSC Lille player said the situation is alarming for everyone at the club. However, Dreossi has confidence in his team and believes that the team will bounce back, and it won’t be long before Rennes hit their top form.
“Today we must find solutions together and have confidence in this team, whether that is the coach, the players, or the entire club, which put in a good performance last season."
