Pierrick Fedrigo wins the Tour de France stage 15 after a photo-finish over Christian Vande Velde
Pierrick Fedrigo of Team FDJ-Big Mat repeated history after his outstanding performance during the 158.5 kilometre pursuit to Pau which earned him a Tour de France stage.
The cyclist previously won the stage 16 of the race back in 2010 in the same fashion and he found a perfect venue to please his local fans with a stage 15 victory on Monday.
The French crossed the finish-line in an impressive time of 3 hours, 40 minutes and 15 seconds and occupied the top podium position after a photo-finish.
Christian Vande Velde of Team Garmin-Sharp finished at almost the same time but had to settle for the second spot with Thomas Voeckler of Team Europcar and Nicki Sorensen of Team Saxo Bank securing the third and the fourth spots.
Fedrigo bagged his first 2012 victory during the stage 3 of the Criterium International and also managed to finish the race at the second overall position.
He rode brilliantly during the Four Days of Dunkirk and achieved the sixth overall position after the final general classifications.
Nicki Sorensen wins the 101.5 kilometre opening sprint of the Tour stage while Pierrick Fedrigo of Team FDJ-Big Mat succeeded at the 158.5 kilometre second sprint of the event.
Thomas Voeckler of Team Europcar claimed all the three 107 kilometres, 123.5 kilometres and the 129 kilometres mountains of the event while Nicki Sorensen was declared as the most combative rider of the event.
Peter Sagan, Kris Boeckmans, Arthur Vichot, Anthony Roux and Edvald Boasson Hagen were the top five young riders on the day.
Bradley Wiggins remained in the yellow jersey for the ninth consecutive day with his compatriot and team-mate Christopher Froome at the second position.
