Pieter-Jan Postma looking forward to good finish in 2012 London Olympic Games – Sailing News
Finn class sailing competitions finished on third day of the 2012 London Olympic Games after putting up an excellent sailing display on the London waters. So far the fleet has completed six races in three days featuring Denmark’s Jonas Hogh-Christensen on
top of the fleet standings with seven points.
The fleet line-up contains leading sailors of the world including the former champion Zach Railey, Ben Ainslie, Jonathan Lobert and Pieter-Jan Postma. Some of these sailors are struggling in the Olympic Games because they compiled some lower finishes in
the proceedings.
Pieter-Jan Postma of the Nederlands is one of the slow going sailors who were unable to add sufficient finishes to their overall scores and tumbled down in the standings. The Dutch sailor grabbed a convincing finish on fifth podium place in the opening race
but after that he tumbled down in the standings and earned 10th finish.
The second day proceedings finished in his favour as he claimed a third and a fourth finish which brought him on higher podiums in the overall standings.
A 20th finish in the first race of the third day was a major blow to his scores followed by a 13th finish because he had some problem with his boat’s gear. Postma is aiming to make some improvements in the upcoming races and grab a
higher finish.
Speaking to the local media, Postma said, “I was calm at the time. These things happen. Then I felt a bit disappointed, then a bit angry. Now I just feel focussed. We have a rest day to gain all the energy back and am looking forward to getting on with the
racing.”
Overall standings of Finn class so far:
1. DEN - Jonas Hogh-Christensen 1 1 2 (7) 1 2 = 7 Points
2. GBR - Ben Ainslie 2 2 6 (12) 4 3 = 17 Points
