Pietersen, Mascarenhas fined for swearing at selector
English cricketers, Kevin Pietersen and Dimitri Mascarenhas were fined for Twitter rants that targeted the English selector, Geoff Miller, for different reasons. The fines come a day after Mascarenhas tweeted against Miller.
Pietersen was fined an amount which was withheld from the media, and Mascarenhas was fined 1000 pounds by his county, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hampshire-c789. Pietersen’s penalty was handed over to him by the English Cricket Board.
Mascarenhas’ tweet went like this, “...chairman of selectors came to Liverpool and didn't even come and say hi.. what a p****.. Doesn't take much to say hello does it?” It did not stop at this, as eight hours later, he went on to tweet, “Geoff Miller is a complete k***.. He had no clue what he is doing.. Fing p****....”. This was his response to the selector not meeting with him, despite being there on the grounds.
Earlier, Pietersen had said, “Yep...Done for the rest of summer!! Man of the World Cup T20 and dropped from the T20 side too...It’s a f**k up!!” on his Twitter page, after he had been dropped from the side for the ODI series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755.
Pietersen attended a disciplinary hearing that was held at Lord's and pleaded guilty to the charges. Earlier, he had deleted the post from his Twitter account and apologised to the selector and the ECB.
ECB released a press statement that said, "The hearing considered his comments to be prejudicial to the interests of Team England and ECB and a significant breach of the England player conditions of employment."
Mascarenhas may not have deleted the post from his Twitter immediately, but he did apologise to both, the county and the selector. He said that he had realised his actions were out of ordinary and termed it as “a silly, late-night conversation that got out of control."
