Question:

Pigeons nesting in roof void?

We've bought a flat which has pigeons nesting in the roof void (about 40 of them).

Any ideas for getting rid of them before we close up the holes in the roof?

Environmental dept at local council say they won't touch them and it'll be very expensive getting a private contractor in.

We've thought we'd pretend to be upper class and say that we have a 'pigeonierre', but we still need to get rid of them :)

We're in the UK

  1. pigeon's are classed as vermin and they are they smell and carry might. so go into the loft wearing overall and a mask, make as much noise as you like that will scare all but the fledglings collect these and dispose of them, if this is to much for you wait until they are fledged (FLOWN AWAY) then repeat above , then repair the roof, if you leave young in loft they will die and then they smell, have a great time in loft, enjoy the experience

  2. just scare them away or get a bad smell to make them stay away or make loads of noise.

  3. this time of the year your going to have young in the nests so your going to have to get into the void to clear it out the older birds will move on when the holes are filled any young your going to have to neck them any eggs destroy

  4. Go to a toy store and buy a fake toy rubber snake and put it up there.
