Pike leaders?

Question

I'm new to fishing and want to fish pike. I am currently reading a number of books on pike and muskelunge fishing, but the books contradict each other. one book says that you need very heavy duty leaders, and that you should even wrap other wires around the leader to prevent the pike from breaking them. the other book says that i should use normal flexible leaders that don't restrict the action of the lure. is there something that i am unaware of, such as specialized leaders for a particular style of lure? or maybe is it that i should use a different leader for pike than the one used for muskelunge?

most pike and muskie leaders are made out of plastic coate d stainless steel ans have a copper sleeve clamped on the loop ends,and swivels added.i proferr a very heavy mono over the steel just because its stealthier. you can find these leaders a http://www.barlowstackle .com

the flexible are better but the first world record sized pike which was huge was caught by someone who took a spoon took the part that you hold of so that the bowl part is left and painted it now those are mass produced to just get a spoon lure they are the best for pike, i promise you will catch one

I fish for pike quite often. I would recommend the flex able leaders. I have had best luck with the darker ones verses the others. For musky go for the heavier flex able leaders.
