Pilara Piaget disappointed over maiden defeat to La Aguada in Tortugas Open
Though the team of Pilara Piaget contested the game quite brilliantly, they failed to take talented La Aguada down and lost the first game by 12-8 at the Tortugas Country Club in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
It was the first fixture of the two teams in the Tortugas Country Club Championship, the first leg of the Triple Crown season. However, the players from Pilara Piaget were not quite pleased over the results of the opening game.
Bautista Heguy, the key player from Pilara Piaget spoke with the media stating that they had practised with a different team and changes in the eleventh hour affected their game. In his view, they failed to take the fourth frame impressively which led to
defeat. He further stated that the fouls also decreased the morale of players during the match.
Heguy said, “There were fouls indicated by the referees that were not so, or moves in which you say nothing and they say it's a technical foul, and this makes you lose concentration, and that cost us two or three goals, which made the difference. But, in
general, and bearing in mind this was the first match, it's a good balance because we played some chukkers well and we did some good moves.”
Commenting on the future of Pilara Piaget, he commented that they will have to make improvements in their strategies in order to take talented La Dolfina down. They will have to employ the same game plan in the first chukka as used in the first game while
they will modify the backhanders. He further stated that the match against La Aguada also provided a realisation about their horses of which some were not fine in the match.
The surprising part of game was that Bautista Heguy played at the Number three position while Hilario Ulloa at the Number one. The skipper informed that they two (number three and one) played at the two positions and they will also play in a similar way
in future games. He added that he felt more comfortable and powerful at the front while playing with Ulloa. One of the major differences between the two teams was that one was playing for the first time together (Pilara) while other the players from the other
team had contested many tournaments jointly.
Furthermore, the skipper stated that he was not sure about the return of Tomas Garcia del Rio, as he was going for an operation on September 30. In his view, hopefully Rio would make a comeback into the Triple Crown.
Another player, Christian Magoo Laprida also expressed his feelings after losing their first game of the Triple Crown season. He opined that the fourth period was unimpressive, adding that they played well in the last two chukkas. Keeping in view that it
was the first game of the new line-up, it could be called a great performance.
Laprida maintained that the injury of Rio ahead of the match forced the last minute change that also affected the performance of the team. However, the replacement of Rio namely Jamie contested the game brilliantly.
Contrary to the stance of Heguy, Magoo stated that he was quite satisfied with the horses and he did not consider them cause of the defeat.
