I've been on the pill for about a year and a half, and never had a problem, other than the odd "late" pill once or twice. But for some reason this month i completely didn't realise that I'd run out of my pill.

Because i live in a village, i have not been able to get a day off work when the doctors or chemist has been open, so have not taken a pill for over a week now. I came off my period about 3 or 4 days ago, but now I've begun bleeding again out of the blue, and its the heaviest I've ever been. Is this normal?? I'm very worried! (I've managed to get the day off today to go for my check up and get my prescription!)

  1. yes  thats completely normal. You're body was used to you taking the pill regularly-the bleeding should lighten and stop after a few days once you resume taking your pill again

  2. I'm glad I came across this question. I've been on the pill for a year and a half too and this month is the first time I haven't really had a period a few days , I very barely spotted for a day. Since I been on the pill my cycle gotten lighter and lighter. Yea but if you miss so many days you can bleed heavier or sometimes some women can bleed for 2 weeks. I missed week one time but I was fine because my had cycle had passed already. By the way, my name is Shauntee' too lol. I hope I was helpful!

  3. Yes it sounds normal...your body is readjusting itself as it kind of "expects" the dose of hormones.  Your period is heavier probably for the same reason as periods very often get much lighter and shorter when you are on the pill.  I 'd just like to add that you should be using other methods of protection right now as well to be safe.  Hope this helps...
