Pill taking suggestions!?

Question

my doc gave me anti biotics for an ear infection nd i h8 takin pills soooo much. to top it all off theyre huge. i have to sit there a few mins trying to swallow it, it makes me nautious. i h8 it sooo much. it feels gross goin down my throat! yi even cry b4 nd after i take it. its a time release gel coated capsule. is there ne way that i could open it up nd like mash it into food or something ???

It probably wouldn't be wise to open it up and mash it into food if it's a time release one.

You could try taking it with juice (if you haven't already), or put it in some jelly so it slides down easy, or with some other creamy/smooth/whatever kind of food.

Try different things and try not to get too hung up on it.

I agree with linlyons, try applesauce. Or you could use your favorite (non-alcholoic) drink, such as juice or maybe some soda instead of water. Just close your eyes and swallow, then you'll be done. It's only about 6 pills in total anyway, and that's just one a day.

no you cant crush timed release caps, try putting it in ice cream, applesauce, pudding or other soft food and swallow like you are swallowing a big bite.  this will help, if you find you just cant take it ask your doctor if he can prescribe an alternative med

don't open 'em.

take 'em with applesauce.  or something you like.  works really well.

don't chew 'em either.  sometimes the cover is designed to release the contents slowly.

if you mess that up, they don't work right.

Hey There!  BEFORE you ever mash up any pills, check them out further to make sure things like citrus wont cause an adverse affect.  If the meds do not have any problems being mixed or taken with food, try crushing it up and stirring it into your drink.  I would not recommend mixing any pills with Soda Pop, but fruit juices do tend to hide the flavour well.

  

If it is REALLY huge, try breaking it into quarters or halves.
