Question:

Pilonidal Abscess side affects?

Ok back in January I had an operation done to remove an abscess. The doctor had removed only the abscess but I kept on having infections. Then I went to another doctor and he said that I got another abscess. So I went through another operation but he didn't just take out the abscess, he took out what was causing it which was literally a tiny chunk of me. He said it will close up in time which it did but now i'm experiencing quite a bit of oozing. Can someone help me figure out if it is normal for there to be oozing afterwards and if there is a way to stop it? Thanks!

  1. I'm curious as to how big your abcess was because I had one back in 1987 and I had surgery  Mine was so big that my husband said that he could put his fist down in it!!! It took it a year to heal completely cause they didn't put any stitches in it. It had to be dressed twice a day and I wasn't able to do it of course. I had a time so I feel for you.

I was in the hospital this past year and the scar got irritated and it is draining now. My doctor said long as it is draining don't worry about it.
