Pilot's License?

When I get older, I would like to be a pilot. How long does it take for someone to get their pilots license? Thanks!

If you wish to fly just for fun, you wanna invest in  private pilots licence. This cost any where from 6grand to 8grand. You can fly Cessna's ad if you get further to get a muli engine, you fly planes such as beech crafts.

If that's too expensive, invest in a recreational pilots licence, where what you can do is restricted...

Another option is to learn to fly a balloon/glider....

Either way, flying is still fun.

You may start lessons at anytime. To solo (fly by yourself under your instructor's supervision), you must be 16 years of age under US regulations for powered aircraft. You may then obtain a private pilot's certificate at 17. Training requires a minimum of 40 hours with an instructor (more like 60 is what it takes), completion of a ground school course (in person or on DVD), pass a written exam, have a flight physical, and pass your checkride when your training is complete. Costs run $6-7000 or thereabouts.

The minimum for a ppl in the U.S is 40 hours but not to many people get it that quickly but it will take considerably longer till you can either fly the A320 or E170.

well you can start your training at any age, but you have to wait till you are 16 to solo and 17 for license. as for time, well if you are a super good learner, then 50 hrs because that's the min (required time set by the FAA)total hrs needed to be a pilot. but if you are managing school and this, then about a year or so. start when you turn 16.there are also different types of pilot license. i recommend to become a privet pilot you can pretty much do what ever you want(just means a lot less limitations).

Their are many licenses and certificates which require much work. Specify what you would like to do fly for fun , work , give tours , etc. If you train twice a week it will take you about 6-8 months to earn a Private Pilot Certificate.
