hello highly knowledge people out there,

as i know, on conventional helicopter, pilot keep pushing their foot on tail rotor paddle to counter act main rotor torque (either port or stbd). i wonder if piloting Ka-32, pilot must keep pushing the paddle or can relax a bit since Ka-32 is counter-rotating main rotor. yep, thankyou in advance.

  1. no helicopter needs constant pilot's effort to counter the torque. most helicopters have some kind of boosters and stability system that would maintain the pilots setup of the pedals once the flight is stabilised.

anyway the Ka 32 due to its counterrotating rotors does not need pedals control at all. he would use the pedals onlyto control the turning of the helicopter while in hovering, as he would in any conventional helicopter.

  2. A good pilot will always have his feet on the rudder pedals.  He (or she) may not be pressing much, but will have their feet on the rudder.  You never know when you will need to nudge it, or give it rudder pressure...
