  1. There are general currency requirements that apply to all certificates, such as...

    * Three takeoffs and landings within the preceding 90 days to act as PIC of an aircraft carrying passengers

    * Three takeoffs and landings within the preceding 90 days, between the period beginning 1 hour after sunset to 1 hour before sunrise, in order to act as PIC of an aircraft carrying passengers in this same time period.

*To act as PIC of an aircraft under IFR (Instrument Flight Rules), you must have logged at least 6 instrument approaches, and practice with holds, intercepting and tracking courses, etc. within the preceding 6 months.

    * Flight Review every 24 calendar months, or have passed a practical test, proficiency check, WINGS program, etc. which counts as a flight review.

    * For Recreational Pilots, if you have logged fewer than 400 flight hours, and haven't logged PIC time in an aircraft within the 180 days preceding the flight, you can't act as pilot in command of an aircraft until the pilot receives flight training and a logbook endorsement from an instructor.

Note - many airlines and other operators have their own individual currency requirements that can be stricter than FAR Part 61 requires.

Also, keep in mind that just because you're legally current - you are not necessarily proficient.
