Pilot as a job....?

I've been saying that I'd want to become a pilot since the age of 6...Now I'm 18..nearly 19. The only problem is that I wear glasses I know that nowadays airlines are accepting pilots with glasses but are they accepted if they have astigmatism. I would really love to become a pilot, that adrenaline when a plane is departing, landing or up there in the sky is simply undescribable. I an also speak 4 European languages and im in possesion of 10 GCSE's.

  1. Take a realistic look at this, you will be competing with others who have had maybe 3000 or more hours flying for the military, don't wear glasses or have an astigmatism.

Your marketability will be less than great.

  2. Most airline pilots wear glasses.

  3. I said lets go for it!!that's the spirit!!they dont care even if your in glasses and if your good go for it!!!

  4. Yeah, Rottendo is an idiot.  Nobody cares if you wear glasses.  I have an astigmatism.  Its not a big deal at all.  Go for it.  You'll be great.

  5. Disregard what rottendo said. Airlines simply don't care about glasses. They'd pass up alot of good pilots if they did. As far as the hours he talks about, those that have them started just where you are, they had none. Cmon babe, get in there. Knock em dead. Today's the first day of the rest of your life. Make it matter. Good luck and never let the rottendos of the world get in your way.
