How many years of colleage do you need to go to to be a pilot so you can make money and fly for avation companies.

  1. If you are doing the job to earn money, then do not even bother. You will spend many years earning not so decent pay working very hard.

    Unless you have the right to work in places in Asia and India by going through their various cadet pilot schemes, be prepared for a bit or alot of hard slog.

    This same question has been asked and answered hundreds of times on this board.  Spend some time using the search function at the top of the page, and you'll find all the information you need.

  5. You don't need college, per se.  You need flight time, and you need to keep advancing up your licenses.

  6. Like anything, though, education will put you above the competition when looking for a job.

  7. In practical terms, you cannot expect to be hired by a major airline or a corporate aviation department without a college degree.

    You can be a bush pilot, an instructor, or a charter pilot without one.  But you still have to have the general intellectual skills to pass all the written and practical tests.
