Piloting Robots?

Question

I know this is a science fiction for most of us. But do you ever see us humans piloting robots?? I mean being inside a cockpit and actually making a big robot move. =p

tell me what are your thoughts.

Just a wild idea i got inside my head right now.

Ever fly a remote control airplane?  You can now practice with a computer program.  I've crashed hundreds of virtual airplanes.

Commercial and military simulators use more than one screen, giving a wrap around view.

A university group put together an L1011 (commercial transport) simulator for $10,000 a few years back.  And it just gets easier.

It sort of defeats the idea of a robot, which is an autonomous machine, to have a human pilot it.  Large human-shaped machines would be tremendously expensive easy targets of  smaller war machines such as tanks or even infantry with anti-armor missiles..  Everytime I see games featuring these contraptions I want to scream that they make absolutely no economic or military sense.  Weapons should be relatively cheap and capable of being built in large numbers.  Super robots would be sitting ducks, the modern version of a battleship.  You may not have noticed but no one has built battleships since World War II.  There is a reason for this.

There has been some research into powered exoskeletons which could allow humans to carry much heavier loads.  A fictional version of such a suit was featured at the end of the second (?) Alien movie.  Such things have been discussed since at least the early 1960s but so far no useful product has been developed.

well I I have seen one, it's a tall Japanese mech walker

with a cockpit and the pilot... really there is one

but it's too slow and not yet really developed but

but I know it will be improved, with our technology increasing'

we don't know what the government have there- specially their MILITARY Tech! yeah!
