glad to help. always wanted to fly and now I'm living a dream come true.

  2. You have several ways to go about this:

    1. Privately (Very costly). You learn to fly with a local flying school, obtain your private pilots licence, then progress your flying hours and move onto a turbo prop aircraft. Then you would need to move onto the lighter engine jets (embraer) before moving onto small boeings or airbus jets. Most airlines require a high amount of flying hours for employment though so this could be costly. Probably in the region of £75,000 ($150,000).

    2. Sponsorship. This option would look at an airline sponsoring you through learning to fly etc. They will most likely offer you a job at the end allthough they never say 100%. You will then be expected to pay all the fees from your training through a small payment from your salary. Easyjet, Thomas Cook and Thomson Fly operate a scheme through CTC McAlpine in the UK. (If you drop out you have to pay it all back though!!)

    3. RAF or USAF. This is an option for a lot of pilots. Join the Air Force and take the 10ish year service. From there you can move onto all sorts of aircraft as the air force operate many types. This would also give you plenty of air time, however with things as they are at the moment you would probably get posted in Iraq or Afghanistan. So if your not into that then this option may not be for you.

P.S. British Airways have their own sponsorship scheme but its VERY hard to get onto. With all the sponsorship schemes you need a sound accademic background to proove you are up to the challenge of such a fast paced course.

  3. Absolutely!  There are many here who would love to help you... just let us know some of your questions and you will hopefully see a bunch of correct answers.
