Pimpernel, Russelliana and Starscope to battle it out in the Lanwades Stud Nell Gwyn Stakes (Group 3)
The Class 1 Lanwades Stud Nell Gwyn Stakes (Group 3) (Fillies) is scheduled to take place at Newmarket on 18th April, 2012. This event is particularly exciting as Paddy Power has declared Pimpernel, Russelliana and Starscope
as collective favourites with the odds of 4 to 1.
Pimpernel is in stellar form, and is looking to deliver a terrific performance in this race. The three-year-old filly is trained by Mahmood Al Zarooni for owners, Godolphin. In this event, she will break out of post 11, and will be mounted by jockey,
Frankie Dettori.
Minidress will also run for the same connections, and she will be the mount for Mickael Barzalona. Mahmood Al Zarooni is pleased with how his runners look as he stated to the press that:
"The trip will suit Pimpernel who is in good form. She ran in Dubai twice and was second and then fifth, but she did not have a good run in the second race. I'm very keen to get a run into her. I just want to get Minidress ready and it's 50-50 whether
she'll run in the Guineas."
Minidress, daughter of Street Cry, out of mare Short Skirt, triumphed over, Everlong, by 4 lengths in the Watch German Races Live At german-tote.com Maiden Fillies' Stakes at Newmarket on 6th August, 2011. It was an impressive
maiden which started her career well.
Russelliana, daughter of Medicean, out of Rosacara, previously bagged a victory in the Inspirational Health Care Maiden Fillies' Stakes at Leicester on 11th June, 2011, where she defeated, Tickled Pink, by 1 ¼ lengths.
Starscope, daughter of Selkirk, out of mare Moon Goddess is raising expectations of her connections for this race.
The three-year-old filly is trained by John Gosden for Cheveley Park Stud, and started her racing career in a brilliant manner.
She downed a terrific victory in her career debut in the E.B.F "Makfi" Maiden Fillies' Stakes (Div I) at Newmarket on 29th October, 2011.
Ridden by jockey, Nicky Mackay, she exhibited her tremendous skill, and defeated race favourite, Coplow, by 2 ¾ lengths.
These runners are expected to excel and they are attracting immense attention from the market.
