Question:

Pimple or bug bite on scalp?

It's been a couple of weeks now and I am not sure what it could be. It started off as a really painful bump on my head. When I tried popping it, green pus came out followed by blood. It still bleeds since I have to wash my hair everyday. It is extremely itchy. I try not to scratch it but give in to temptation. When the scab comes off, so does my hair. My sister told me I now have a bald spot almost the size of a dime. The spot is growing bigger and it seems now that the wound is oozing blood and oil at the same time. Can someone please help me? Thanks.

  1. You may want to get checked out by a doctor. I'm afraid anything involving the words "green" and "pus" in the same sentence, means infection. You need to get seen right away.

  2. Hospital,Doctor. Parent, Entomologist.

  3. I think what you might have is a Staph infection. I myself, had this infection on my side. I too had painful bumps that were multiple colors. When my mom tried popping them they were green and had pus coming out. And this was very painful. My infection however, did not itch. It just caused pain. Also, you may have cellulitis which is what a staph infection can progress into. I suggest you go see a doctor right away. My experience at the doctor was easier than I thought. They just took a swab of the pus and tested it it. It tested positive for Staph and gave me PLENTY of medication. I had a bottle of cream to put in my nasal passage ((where staph infections are usually started)) and I had to take six different kinds of pills four times a day. Eventually my staph infection healed but I still have many scars on my side. The ONE thing we did not have in common when it came to the infection site is the hair loss, but clearly a stomach is not as hairy as a scalp ;]

Number one recommendation: See a Doctor. ASAP!!!

  6. It's your brain trying to escape! oh no!...jk- actually i would go to a doctor.  If you call your family doctor to make the appointment, ask them if you need to make an appointment with them or a dermatologist.  Also, if you have medical insurance, there is usually a 24/7 number you can call and talk to a registered nurse.  They will be able to answer your question better than most people on here- they have more/better resourses.  Hope this helped!

  7. OMG! I would get to the Dr asap!  If you got a bald spot now and it's getting bigger I would have something done before I lost all my hair.

  8. Sounds like super aids to me. Good luck.

  9. That is soooo discounting i almost barfed!!!

  10. To be honest it sounds like you have a staph infection to me. If it is painful, swollen, and oozing green there is an infection. You could have also gotten bitten by a spider. A lot of times people get a small bite or bump, they mess with it and then MRSA is able to get into the blood stream and make the infection ten times worse. MRSA is a type of staph. Everyone has some amount of staph naturally. Please go to the Dr.

  11. ummm i think u shld def. see a doctor but 'tell then, put arnica on it and a bandage.

  12. it could be a pimple or zit because If you work alot then you work up a sweat adn stuff but if it hasnt gone away I would see a doctor expecailly if its causing a bald spot!

  13. you have an infection.  put antibiotic salve on it immediately and stop scratching or annoying it.  if it doesn't clear up with a week or so, go to a doctor

  14. infected ingrown hair or cyst or maggot nest  .. go to a doc
